NRB Goa River Marathon

The NRB Group was the title sponsor for the 2011 edition and the run was called The NRB Goa River Marathon. The first Goa River Marathon was organized by the Vasco Sports Club, held on 19th December 2010 which was a resounding success. The national and international participants who ran the race last year had promised to return for the second edition of the marathon, with more runners from across the globe, and within the country.

The NRB Goa River Marathon had two main runs, one was the 21km half marathon which was followed by 5km fun walk run. The entire city of Vasco da Gama wore a festive look. Music, DJs and brass bands added to the adrenalin of the participants. The organizers of Goa River Marathon 2011 had fulfilled there promise of a "bigger and better event".

Managing Director of Zuari Industries Limited, Shri Naveen Kapoor flagged off the half marathon. Shri V. M. Prabhudesai, Executive Director, SAG, flagged off the corporate event and The NRB Group Chairman Narayan Rajaram Bandekar, flagged off the 5km fun walk.

The Vasco Sports Club welcomed people who wished to involve themselves in affordable healthy and accessible sport of "Running". “The marathon was all about the Green Campaign, henceforth we will introduce many events to publicize the marathon which was said by Nitin Bandekar, President of Vasco Sports Club.
